Saturday, October 27, 2007 Rainy days and Cookies

Well, since we've had rain here for 5 days now the kids and I made some cookies in lieu of outside play. What's more fun than cookies and frosting in great colors like orange, white , green and my personal favorite BLACK! I completely spaced when I washed Maggie's green face before capturing a photo - DOH! It was really funny though :o)

Max was ALL about sprinkles! They each got 3 cookies to frost because, as expected, they would frost, sprinkle and lick the same cookie repeatedly!

Maggie's hand coordination is greatly improving!

I love this photo!

Master Max creating his cookie.

Yum, yum, yum :o)

Papa NOT so happy about getting his photo but he knew it was hopeless to resist!

The final products... cute huh?

Friday, October 26, 2007 Fire men and Rain

Hmmm, so after typing that title I figured it probably wasn't the best choice for all my SoCal friends. I do wish you guys LOT'S of rain and clean air. Glad to know that, at this point, no one I know has lost a home.

Yesterday Max's school had the firemen visit. Max was ecstatic because he got a fireman hat. Look how incredibly handsome he is!

He was soooo excited to tell Papa he ran in the door and all over the house yelling, "Papa, Papa look what I got". Unfortunately Papa was not here but 45 minutes later when he did show the excitement had not waned a bit!

Both kids are doing well with their Spanish. They understand quite a bit and yesterday Maggie even said, "yo no se Mama" a.k.a. "I don't know Mom". Very cute in such a tiny baby voice. And Max always announces after school, "I spoke Spanish all by myself" with a proud grin.

Well it has been raining here the last couple days and, coming from California we don't have any rain gear. Which wouldn't be too bad except we live in a city and walk EVERYWHERE. I went to take Max to school and drove a whole block and a half due to rain. Soooo, Maggie and I went shopping and bought a rain cover for the stroller which will come in handy in the cold winter air too. We also got some fun rain boots. The kids had a blast jumping in the puddles after school!

As you all know Max HATES to get dirty and was a little distressed his new froggy boots were muddy. Then I told him we could rinse them off with the hose and he ran and jumped in the biggest puddle he could find.

For a kid who doesn't like to get messy he was awfully good at it!

And Maggie, who LOVES to be messy was really quite neat. I think that had more to do with her lack of jumping skills though. As much as she likes to run her jump is still a tiny inch or so off the ground. Whatever, she'll get there and in the meantime I don't have to wash mud off her pants!

Pumpkin Patch Photos

Okay, so I went a bit overboard with photos. And believe it or not this is NOT all of the pics!

This would have been perfect if only I could've gotten them to look at me! This place was so fantastic they couldn't take their eyes off all the activities waiting...

I want a BIG pumpkin!

Do you think she could lift it?

This was cool... a big pile of sand and shovels with toys hidden inside. Each kid got to pick three.

"I did it Mom!"

The speck at the top of the slide is Max and Papa.
Maggie's turn!

Mama can we go again!

"I went down the slide aaaaaall by myself"

"Faster Mommy"

Guess what's inside this pumpkin?

Balloons flying around! You can tell by Max's face he hates this - NOT :o)

It's hard to take pictures through tiny holes in the side of the pumpkin. But don't you just love the orange tint?

Doesn't work nearly as well through the plastic windows.
We had to pry the kids outta here!
Lunch time... pizza and hot dogs. Ah, health food.
Maggie and Papa on the hayride.
Look out the aliens have landed!
Little petting zoo was cute but didn't really make the cut with all the other fun stuff around.

This was a HUGE hit!

"Maaaax where are you?"
"Look out behind you Maggie... monsters!"
The tube was waaaaaay long.
"I can do it aaaaall by myself"
Maggie, of course, preferred to be rolled down the hill.
Where's Max?
OH there he is... but what happened to Papa?
Outside the spooky house...

October 20, 2007 Pumpkin Patch

Okay, so I'm having trouble loading the pictures. Something about a Bx9tj60??? error. Whatever! Today we went to the pumpkin patch. EVERYONE recommended Cox Farm but seriously, it's an hours drive! No thanks, not with 2 toddlers and NOT for a pumpkin patch. I'm all for fun but, well, I have my limits. And apparently everyone is so focused on Cox they have missed a FANTASTIC patch half the distance away. We went to Burke Nursery. The funny thing is this is the exact same place I took my now 13 year old nephew when he was 2 or 3. It has grown exponentially and is really cool! Check out the photos... that is if I can get blogger to let me load them!

Okay, no luck for the bazillionth time... tomorrow :o(

But, in case the suspence is killing you... we were there for 4 hours and had to drag the kids away at that point!

October 19, 2007 Party Time

Today, while Max was at school, Maggie Meyer came over to play. Hereafter I will refer to her as MM for ease of reading/writing :o) Anyway, the girls had a GREAT time being girls. Thanks to everyone who bought Maggie dress-up clothes, jewelry, microphones, angel wings, wands, tiaras etc... for Maggie's birthday because they had a ball!

Let's pick out some wands.
And check out our fairy wings!

MM posing for the shot. All Maggie cared about was getting the camera because "I wanna see" the picture I haven't taken yet!

MM dancing until something catches their attention on t.v.

My Maggie looked so pretty but boy was she impatient for me to take a picture. Gotta get back to the tiara's and earrings now mom!

After Mike and Max had their respective Spanish Classes I found them totally passed out on the bed. My two favorite guys snuggled up. Look how tiny Max still is next to his Papa. Me les amo!

While the girls played and the boys were at school Mama was making lasagna for our dinner party tonight. Somehow the gods came got together and planned for our good friend, Brian, to be in DC from San Diego, Ed and Ruthie with their 2 kids in Richmond, Petra and Gerry with their daughter Alex from Alexandria, and Al who resides here in DC to all come over for dinner. Everyone, except moi, went to Tulane University and all are or were military and therefore are often scattered across the country, or other countries! Anywho, we got lucky and between weddings, meetings, training etc we are all in DC, at least for one night, together :o)

I love the photo above of Ruthie and Petra trying to get the kids to look at the camera at the same time. Let's see the oldest is 4 1/2 and the youngest is 20 months... good luck guys!

The clan sitting nicely for dinner.

George ALWAYS smiles. He can definitely turn on the charm!
Big sister Margaret, below, as if that needed saying. Could they look more alike? Again, another charmer ALWAYS willing to smile for the camera.

And of course sweet Alex. Not so much a camera hound but one heck of a singer and sweet as pie to the little ones. My kids ADORE her!
